MESH TOPS

A mesh top is made from lightweight, open-knit or semi-sheer fabric that creates texture and varying levels of transparency. Styles can be smooth, ribbed or lace-inspired, with details such as ruching, gathers and scalloped trims adding more dimension.

It depends on the style. Some tops with mesh are fully lined, while others are lined only through the front, leaving areas such as the sleeves or back more sheer. Lace-mesh tanks may be completely unlined, so a bralette, bandeau or fitted cami can be added when you want more coverage.

Use the neckline and level of transparency as your guide. A sheer long-sleeve women’s mesh top works well over a tonal bralette or cami, while a lace-mesh tank can sit under a tailored blazer with the texture left visible at the neckline.
